If you would rather not go through the hassle of installing WordPress manually, there is an automated solution for those with cPanel hosting with Fantastico. Fantastico is a script library, which offers automated installations of a number of open source applications including WordPress. No file uploading is necessary, and no database creation needed. All the hard stuff is handled by Fantastico. All you need to do is fill in your preferred admin login info, click a few buttons, and you’re done.
Before You Begin
You’ll need to have your domain pointed to your cPanel/Fantastico web host. Don’t have a web host? We’d recommend HostGator. They always have the latest version of WordPress pre-loaded and ready to install in Fantastico. Once you’re all set up with your web host, access cPanel at yourdomain.com/cpanel, type in your username and password (provided by your host) and locate the Fantastico button.
Begin The Installation
Once you’re on the Fantastico screen, it should look something like the following screenshot:
Click the “New Installation” link to begin (we know it’s a little hard to read).
Step 1
On this screen, you’ll be asked if you would like to install WordPress in a sub directory. If you want WordPress to be installed on the root domain, you can leave this first input box blank.
Next is the admin access data, which you’ll use to login to your WordPress administration panel. Make sure the password is something hard to guess, but easy for you to remember.
Base configuration includes your nickname, your e-mail address, the site title, and description.
Step 2
You don’t have to actually do anything in this step. It is just informing you the database name that will be created for you, automatically. If you do, however, encounter an error - you may have to delete a file or directory that’s “in the way” so to speak. Click the “Finish Installation” button to proceed.

Step 3
Again, you don’t have to do anything at this step either. If everything has gone smoothly, you should be informed that the WordPress installation was successful. Do take note of your username and password before closing this page. That’s it, you’re done! Now, wasn’t that easier than manually installing WordPress?
